This Rock is essentially a boundary marker for the Duke of Somerset and is inscribed ‘DS 1854’ on its north face. Beside it there is a strange boulder that looks as if the top of a newly hatched egg had been removed – if you get it? My third visit, in April 2021, showed a lot of moss obscuring the inscription, so not wanting to remove it all I bring you (below) an older (by a couple of years) photo.
