Apparently this is ‘Turf House’ (or what remains).  The following quote from Crossing’s Guide is courtesy of Tim Sandles (Legendary Dartmoor).. “…here many years ago stood a building known as the Turf House. In this, the peat cut for use at Wheal Betsy used to be stored. The granite pillars that supported the roof are still to be seen.”, Crossing’s Guide to Dartmoor. p.170.

There are two other long stones that have fallen over next to the upright. It looks like the ruins of a large rectangular building. Large rectangular areas that might have contained water (settling tanks?) appear vaguely in the landscape nearby. Possibly these rectangular areas are where the peat was cut from?
