Doe Tor Common Logan Rock (331 m)

Description: Stood on this wobbly rock whilst I was looking for the nearby B.M. – which I failed to find.. the rock does a fun ‘Logan’ though!

Doe Tor Impromptu Military Defence Location (400 m)

This location is clearly used by the military as a defensive command structure for exercises. A flat, grassy area enclosed by granite. It has a number of interesting features such as a lodged boulder, a small ‘corridor’ with a ‘window’ and some minor ‘fortification’ work. Also nearby there is what looks like the remains of a Rangers Building.. or toilet?? It really does look like a ruined toilet..

Doe Tor Farm Edgerunner Stolen 2005 (Not Located)

Description: I have seen a photo of the ’empty’ spot where the edgerunner was originally located (see reference plate 4, below) – but I couldn’t find that on my visit today. My photo is taken at the field corner, close to the NGR location.

Reference: MoD Doe Tor Farm Conservation Management Historic Site Apprioasal and Survey SX 53510 84930, Plate 4 is taken from the west. The edgerunner ‘gap’ is just under 1 m in width.

Not entirely certain what is meant by an ‘edgerunner’, except I am assuming it is probably a millstone, or similar (as that’s what it looked like in the photo of it I’ve seen – before it was nicked).
