Notes: A rock handle is a rare occurrence on Dartmoor and only a very few have been found. They are quite delicate and so care is given at revealing all of them and their exact locations. They are probably due to natural erosion/ weathering. Rock Seats are plentiful but rarely are they found perfectly formed and at a reasonable height to allow comparison with a sofa - but a few have been located. The layback is a rockclimbing action whereby the climber holds a rock edge and leans away, using their feet to push into the edge to gradually inch their way up. There are qwuite a few of these 'bouldering' features on the moor but only a select few are listed here.
