Visit your nearest visitor centre or tourist information centre to acquire vast knowledge from local people who know the area well, not just the immediate vicinity but further afield from Dartmoor to Devon and beyond. Knowlegable staff can help you plan a walk or drive and suggest family-friendly locations to spend a day or more, as well as accommodation and places to eat. Postbridge, Princetown and Haytor Visitor Centres are run by Dartmoor National Park Authority, while the others are independent. Please check opening times on the centre websites to avoid disappointment.
