EPB 1837 bound stone.  The initials are those of Edmund Pollexfen Bastard (1784-1838) an MP and once High Sheriff of Devon (1834). The Bastard family acquired the Manor of Buckland-in-the-Moor in 1614 and the bound stones are on the Buckland /Ashburton boundary.  The stones have EPB 1837 on one face and an ‘A’ for Ashburton and a ‘B’ for Buckland on the other face.

An older boundstone is in the foreground.
