For this square, John Hayward chose Ferns. These can be seen all over Dartmoor, but are not to be confused with bracken which consists of several small stems emanating from the principle stem. Ferns, on the other hand, all sprout from a central base. Admittedly, those pictured are bracken!

Along this quiet lane also stands a marvellous granite milestone (listed here).
