Steve Grigg notes: “In the churchyard of St Marys the Virgin is a Medieval cross, atop a ‘modern’ three tier base which stands alongside the grave of a former vicar of Holne and his family. It is the cross which William Crossing suggests formerly stood at Play Cross, just outside the village and thus stood on the [Buckfast to Tavistock Abbey] monastic route.
