‘ An adit was driven on the west bank of the Dart in 1857-58 immediately opposite Queen of Dart Mine on the presumed extension of that lode. Near the mouth of the adit, a shaft was driven to 8.5 fathoms below level and despite the prospects being considered “far superior” to those of the Queen of Dart, nothing appears to have been done’.
