This was a most frustrating search. Right in the place of the ‘Stone’ is this granite post, not what I was expecting but spot on in terms of the NGR I had obtained. I looked all over it but found no cut mark or bolt, leaving only two options:

1. I was at the wrong site, and the ‘Stone’ has been moved or covered over.
2. The benchmark does exist but faces into the private field hence why I didn’t spot it.

Whatever answer it is, I’d like to know!
