As its name suggests, this is a ‘cliff’-like outcrop of non-granite rock, and a long one indeed. If you walk along the footpath east from Belstone’s ‘Great Green’, you will pass under many rocks that constitute ‘The Cliff’. The largest and most prominent part, which pokes above the canopy and affords fine views of Belstone Cleave, was cleared of vegetation a few years ago by parishioners.
