Steve Grigg writes: “On a recent trip following the Hemsworthy Mine tramway from the road down to Bagtor Cottages, I came across a possible (unrecorded) clapper across the River Sig at SX76036 75595
The clapper has 4 imposts but only appears to cover half the river. The river might of course once fully flowed under the bridge but has redirected around the bridge over the years.
The clapper does not appear on the Heritage Gateway or any maps I have looked at. It is possible that it pre-dates the ford, which is located a short distance upstream.
Does anyone have any further knowledge or information regarding this artefact?”
