Ger Tor

Ger Tor, Sentinel of the Cleave, has two possible name origins: ‘Ger’ may derive from ‘Gert’ which would describe Tavy Cleave appropriately as a huge, natural gert. The second possibility is that ‘Ger’ has its etymology with ‘Great’, making it the ‘Great Tor’ which is a title it certainly assumes from many angles, bulging above the river.
