B.M. 0922.1, EF (actually WF), SW side of Merrivale Bridge
On Side by Side maps, B.M. 922.1 is shown as facing E on the bridge which could only be possible if it were located either on the top of the parapet or being etched on a vertical rock facing into the old road on the top of the bridge. But, on inspection, I found neither and surmised quite quickly that it was lost to rendering.
However, when I decided to obtain a shot of the bridge from below, I spotted a benchmark on the other side of the bridge facing downstream! I’m not entirely sure how the surveyor got it there but I was nonetheless happy to have found one here. I assume this is the same B.M. although it does look quite new?
