Dunnabridge Engine Shaft

This is a fenced-off engine shaft.

The following information is taken from the information board at the site; “Here are the remains of the shaft sunk here in the 1850s, used for pumping and hauling. The wooden frame, known as a ‘head gear’, carries part of the winding gear for hauling the kibble loaded with timber. A horse whim would’ve replaced the hand capstan.”
