Guide Post at Beggar’s Bush
Does this still exist? Sadly recent visits have not found a guide post which is clearly marked on old maps.
Avon/ Aune DNP exit
Or Avon, although there are many Avon’s in Britain but only one Aune! There is a rough footpath along the side of the sewage works which takes you a spot where you can view the Avon exiting the DNP under the A38.
South Brent – Glazebrook House (Hotel)
CLOSED as of December 2022. Only open for a limited number of exclusive use events.
Glazebrook Bridge ‘C’ County Stone, East
Glazebrook Bridge is a fine bridge on the original A38 road, which has been bypassed twice. The bridge contains two county bridge stones, situated roughly 80 metres either side of the structure, which mark the limits of the county’s responsibility in looking after the area.
The Glazebrook stones were both visited in February 2013 by Tim Jenkinson and required some clearance. In December 2022 both stones were extremely tricky to locate. It was only thanks to Tim’s coordinates and photographic record on Flickr that he and Max Piper were able to find the stones! Both were buried in vegetation and soil, prompting an immediate response.
Both Max and Tim are members of the Milestone Society, with Tim being the County Representative. Both stones were cleared once more and 10-figure grid references obtained.
