Notes: This leat embankment would’ve carried water on to an over fed water wheel. The leat while dry is still traceable to an extent.
Reference: Steve Grigg on Dartmoor 365 Facebook kindly supplied Dartefacts with the information and NGR for this item as well as the ‘Featured Image’.
Description: At first I thought I had stumbled upon a Tinners’ Hut, but it looks more like some kind of support wall of waste granite that resulted in a pit. It certainly doesn’t look like a safe place to sleep – although I guess it has been there for quite a long time. I have come to the conclusion that this must be a tinners’ cache – but need to research this further. I can think of no other purpose!
Thanks to Dave Hamnett for supplying this item.

Notes: I have seen this item noted as ‘Foxhole Mine (Disused)’ on old maps? (sidebyside). (RN)
