Stinnons/ Stennen Hill

As Eric Hemery explains, the name of ‘Stinnons’ – much like ‘Stannon’ and ‘Stennen’ – mean a stony hill.

Stinnons/ Stennen Hill Rocks

This is a huge rock field which features on the Tors of Dartmoor website. Please go there to view the full read.

It was first described in any great detail by Eric Hemery, but he doesn’t go so far as to describe it as a disintegrated tor, only a ‘rock-field’.
