Moretonhampstead Parish Church
Notes: Otherwise known as St. Andrew’s Church, this beautiful building overlooks some varied and rugged East Dartmoor landscape. Its tower is 15th Century and parts of the parish church have been restored in 1856 and 1905 respectively.
The grave of Ian Mercer (1933-2016), the first Dartmoor National Park officer (1973-1990), is located here.
Moretonhampstead Village Cross
Notes: This is the Dancing Tree Cross on Cross Street, so named because of its companion, the tree! The tiny cross we see today is beside the third iteration of the Dancing Tree which got its name as being a place of entertainment for the residents.
