Update (27/01/23): I went out for a walk in Shaptor Wood today, a regular haunt of mine, as is passing by B.M. 0605.9. However, what I saw was quite different to the norm. A tree that had fallen over Little John’s Walk had destroyed some fencing and taken out the gatepost with the B.M. on it. The tree had been cut up and the gatepost placed along the track in a recumbent state, with the B.M. on the ground. I hope that this gatepost will be put back in situ, just for the benchmark’s sake.
