Often, on Facebook Dartmoor Groups, there are posts requesting route ideas. This page is intended to become THE repository for the public sharing of good quality Dartmoor GPX Routes.
Files are listed by their length (in km) order using the following name structure:
Length of Route (in km) / Type of Route (Loop or Linear) / Contributor’s initials / Start Location / Route Points of Interest
Disclaimer(s): How you choose to use these files and how closely you follow a gpx route is entirely the decision of the Navigator – this website can take no responsibility for route decisions made outdoors whilst using these GPX files. Some of these Routes have been kindly donated by ‘Contributors’ who may have had agreements with private landowners to access land – it is again the responsibility of the Navigator to assess the use of any gpx file route.
CLICK TO OPEN: 49 GPX Route Files (in km length order, from 1.71-20.6 km):
Everyone is invited to email their GPX routes to dartefacts@gmail.com and they will be added to the drop down above (click the green bar) – with an acknowledgement (if you wish). If possible please let me (Robert Naylor) know you have emailed your files via Facebook as emails can sometimes be sent to the Junk Folder. The more gpx files contributed the more likely this page will be popular and therefore the more likely we will all gain GPX files, and new walking route ideas, from others. Don’t worry if your routes are ‘off-the-beaten-path’ or go through mires or rocky ascents – these routes are intended to give walking ideas and not followed exactly. Any issues with these files, or any questions then please email or FB me.
Don’t worry about naming or organising your files – just email as an attachment file and I will do the rest. I’m happy with just one GPX or a hundred in a single zip-folder! But bear in mind that if a lot of files come my way it may take me a while to add them here.
If you do not wish your initials to be in the file name and wish to be an anonymous contributor that is absolutely fine.
This page will always remain FREE to access and will never be put behind the subscription paywall.
If this page receives a significant number of contributions I will see if its possible to invest time and money into developing it further – for example providing a clickable link to a map page that shows the route so that you know what its like without having to download > upload to your device to check it out. Or a ‘further details’ text box that briefly describes each route etc.
Contributors:
The following are the initials used in the GPX filenames to acknowledge those who have contributed one or more Dartmoor GPX files (routes) to the community:
