This is a holy well, likely medieval, that is fed by a spring that has now almost dried up. The well – which is close to the River Ashburn – consists of a small pool of water that is fed by a narrow channel to the south-east. Both the pool and channel are enclosed by low stone rubble retaining walls. On the west side is a taller stone rubble wall along the road frontage. It is said that the water in the well is the perfect remedy for weak eyes and attracted people from all over Ashburton. It is easily reached by heading down some steps to the left of St. Gudula’s Cross.
