Look out for the Ordnance Survey benchmark (B.M.) inscribed onto the back of the stone.
Notes: Inscribed WM STONE and 1853, on Ilsington/Bovey Tracey parish bounds (a B.M. is also incised below the date). This is one of the Duke of Somerset’s 1853 manorial stones but DS is not included.
The numbering for these Haytor and Bagtor Down boundary markers is the same as that used by Dave Brewer.
