L Boundstone near Okehampton Camp No.1 (West of Anthony Stile)

A nineteenth-century boundstone lettered ‘L’ for Lydford. (information supplied by Peter Brooks).

According to Nigel Machin in Dartmoor Information Exchange (Facebook); “The Lydford boundary never made it this far west and the stone apparently represents wishful thinking by the Duchy of where they had aspirations of moving it.

CL (Cornydon Luxmore) Boundstone

This stone relates to the Cornydon Luxmore family who purchased an eighth part of the Manor of Okehampton in 1759, including Okehampton Park and who held the Manorial Rolls of the Court of Okehampton for the years 1581 to 1759… In the years 1790 to 1796 Cornydon Luxmore was Mayor of Okehampton.
