Notes: This, one of two significant xenoliths here, is a great example of a common feature around this area, particularly on nearby Hamel Down.

According to Josephine Collingwood in Dartmoor Tors Compendium (2017), xenoliths are formed when “pieces of country rock are absorbed into the granite magma and are then altered.”
