Notes: It is mentioned in ‘A Field Guide to the Boundary Markers on and around Dartmoor‘ on page 82 where Dave Brewer states: “Further down this road, near the bridge over the Meavy, is a stone in a wall on the south side that has always been intrigued by the author. An oblong block some eighteen inches or so long, it bears the inscription ‘JS/1832’, and is adjacent to the entrance to Dewerstone Cottages. It is known that the initials refer to one J. Scoble, a former landowner, but for what purpose?“
