Reference: Steve Grigg, via DARTMOOR 365 (Facebook Group), has kindly supplied Dartefacts with the information and NGR for this item, crediting an article by Luke Darlington on the old Chagford Golf Course (Autumn 1989 Issue), which was open from Whit Monday 1908 until April 1930. Steve’s gratitude goes to Claire Northmore, who had the original plans of the course, and lives at the site of the original clubhouse.
Reference: A brilliant find by Tim Jenkinson, its first mention was in Dartmoor Magazine, Issue 58, Spring 2000: ‘Nameless Rock Piles: Field Notes and Photographs’.
Reference: Tunnaford Rocks, first mentioned by Tim Jenkinson, boasts one of the best rock basins on Dartmoor – and it’s lesser-known! The Tors of Dartmoor website explains it all.
Notes: The South Tor contains a fabulous rock basin and sits below the track. Please see Tors of Dartmoor for the full write-up.
