Steve Grigg writes: “…it would appear to have been a relatively unrecorded site and was stated as being “on the true right bank of Stats Brook a couple hundred yards of so north of Stats Bridge at approx 668806”.

The mill is actually stamping mill and was the processing plant for Wheal Caroline, which used water from the Birch Tor and Vitifer Mine Leat. Wheal Caroline mine is a combination of medieval openworks and 19th century mine adventurers.

Steve’s NGR is SX 66637 80839 which is 200 metres south of that recorded in the magazine.
