I spotted this out of the corner of my eye. It was completely mossed over, it was only its distance from the bridge and appearance that made me think ‘c stone’. Fiona Rothwell kindly mudded the ‘C’ and we went back to the east side of the bridge to see if we could locate the other stone, but we couldn’t. It looks as though we – that being me, Fiona, Paul Rendell and Amanda Ellis – were the first to see it in many years.
