Noted by Paul Rendell and marked as ‘Stone’ on an historic map (MP).

It is inscribed with H | B on adjacent sides. The H = Hennock, the B = Bovey (Tracey). It stood on the boundary of those parishes, but the Hennock area is the northern, of two detached parts of that parish. Both parts were ceded to Bovey, probably as a result of the ‘The Divided Parishes Act’ [1882]. In 1957 (I think), part of Bovey Tracey, that included parts of both detached parts of Hennock, were ceded to Lustleigh (information kindly provided by Mark Fenlon).
