Description: Being situated within a sheltered, damp woodland, these stepping stones are noticeably more slippery than those seen on the high moor and so extra care must be taken to prevent injury. If in doubt, wade during low water levels. Thanks to Peter Joyce for reminding me of this spot.

William Crossing (1912) uses Leigh Steps whereas Mike Brown (1995) applies this name to Leigh Bridge that WC describes separately. Given ‘Steps’ is a term so often used to describe stepping stones, it makes sense for Leigh Steps to be associated with the stepping stones.
