Although it is not indicated on OS Maps, there is a ‘dry valley’ between the footpath to the west and Lizwell Meet, with a pretty large elongated ridge known as Lizwell Meet Tor set away from the steeper hillside by a depression. It is highly probable that when river levels were/are extremely high, this eminence would have become an island with water flowing around its western flank.

A walking permit to access this private land can be obtained from Fountains Forestry.
