The legendary Pixies Cave of Sheeps Tor is much harder to reach than one might expect, surrounded on all sides by granite clitter. In fact, the area is so choked with granite that from time to time one rock might dislodge. In the past, this has made the cave smaller and more restricted inside. It is entirely up to you if you choose to enter the cave legs first or head first – either way is difficult as you have to manoeuvre some 90 degrees once within.

If you get claustrophobic do not attempt Pixies Cave. Do not visit in summer either, as you will not only have a tricky time finding the cave, but the bracken will be concealing holes and drops. It is perhaps more difficult getting out of the cave than it is getting in, so consider this before making that brave move!

Please respect the pixies who inhabit the cave.
