This target shed originally housed a Wickhams trolley, which would carry moving targets along the railway tracks. The tracks run behind a large embankment which acted as protection for the target carrier and the targets would be fired upon from the firing bays to the North. The moving target system is no longer functioning, but the shed – referred to as the Wickhams Target Shed – is used to store portable hydraulic targets and other training equipment.
Ray Mears has also been here and it features in his documentary about Dartmoor.
