Jeremy Butler, in Dartmoor Atlas of Antiquities, writes: “The lowest surviving prehistoric settlements in the Erme valley are four small enclosures no more than 150 m apart around the head of Addicombe Brook, each associated with two or three huts… Enclosure B faces directly down the combe just above the deep tinners’ excavation around the head of the brook.”

In September 2022 the Dartmoor Youth Rangers, assisted by Ranger Ella Briens, cleared this enclosure of bracken by bashing it so that it won’t grow as high next year.
