The exact location is unknown, though it is probably referring to the road bridge that spans the River Bovey. There are actually two bridges here, but the one to the west is known as ‘Clapper Bridge’, possibly because there was once one here, or the existing bridge was built on the foundations of a clapper? (MP, July 2022)
