Originally marked and singled out by most OS Maps on Side by Side as a ‘stone circle’, one edition actually calls this and another nearby hut ‘cairn circles’ which certainly seems more feasible, and this is backed up by Historic England which describes both circles with NGRs of SX 6252 7787 and SX 6256 7788, the latter of these being almost spot on for this item’s location. Heritage Gateway uses ‘hut circle’, remarking that OS uses ‘stone circle’. Who’s right here? Is this a stone circle, a cairn circle or a hut circle?
