Notes: This, the Duchy Hotel in Princetown, was once a Visitor Centre (1993-2025) and the largest on the moor exhibiting everything that makes Dartmoor so special. It was notable for, as a hotel, once housing Sir Arthur Conan Doyle in April 1901, where he wrote part of ‘The Hound of the Baskervilles’ having been inspired by Foxtor Mires which would later become his ‘Great Grimpen Mire’.
