Notes: The grid reference and details for this item were kindly supplied by Steve Grigg who says that this is “The Three Valiant Soldiers’ Grave of a corporal and two privates of the Royal Fusiliers. In 1853, the privates were travelling across the moor to join the prison’s military guard. They were caught in a blinding snowstorm and met the corporal. Although advised to wait for conditions to improve the three men carried on. All three died within a few hundred metres from Princetown (see Soldiers’ Pond on OS maps).
