Splinterproof Hut/ SP 20.

Despite its near-ish close resemblance, I am reliably informed that this is not an Observation Post and is instead a target butt or, as John Deakins has kindly pointed out, a splinterproof hut (number 20) which is “An early version of the Observation post.” This is found just to the west of the track to the north of Hangingstone Hill. Fiona Rothwell kindly supplied both the Featured Image and NGR. Fiona also found this fascinating link to Heritage Gateway (see here).
