Tim Jenkinson writes: “On the lower north slopes [of Cut Hill] several curious upright rocks can be seen, these have been identified by a succession of writers as possible guiding stones through a passageway known as Cut Lane. The two highest stones are the most prominent but lower down on the north-west flank further sharp stones are propped amid a small clitter.
